going on vacation

We are leaving Wednesday of this week to go on vacation. Not sure where we are going. Probably to Utah then Arizona and maybe even to New Mexico and then back up to Colorado. We were going to fly to Washington state but since we can't find a babysitter for our dear dog, Max, we will have to take him with us so we'll be driving. We need this vacation so bad and we can't wait. It has been a full year since we've gone anywhere. We need to decompress.
So I'll be back in 2 weeks. See you then.

I just received in the mail the Martha Stewart butterfly punch that I ordered last week. I am so excited to use it on a page. I'm going to use it on the black & red papers that I got for the design team project for the store. I'd like to make a card for my mother using it too. She loves butterflies. I've only been able to get into my scrap room once this week. My brother-n-law is here visiting with us and we've been doing a lot of visiting with him. It's good to have him here. But I'm going to try real hard to get down there tonight.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
Here is a pic of the best son ever, Samuel! He makes me proud to be his mother.
I wish I had a pic available of my mother. She is a very special person.
I also am going to try to attach a you tube called "The Gift of An Ordinary Day". It is my story, especially since my son is almost 6 foot tall and 15 years old. I can relate to this woman's story so much.
Have a great day!
ps - okay I can't seem to be able to attach that you tube. but you can find it by going to You Tube and searching using this title. Be sure you have kleenex.
I'll have to have my 15 year old to show me how to attach a video.

Design Team

These are the papers that I picked out to do 3 - 2 page layouts for the Design Team for the Treasure Box. I love the bright spring pinks and greens in the above picture. These are from Jillibean, the camping/outdoor papers are from Bo Bunny and the black/red papers are from g.c.d / Musturd Moon / Jenni Bowlin / Scenic Route. I'll post the finished pages when I can.

I ordered the Martha Stewart butterfly punch yesterday. I'm excited to play with it. I've seen such cute things done with it. I'm hoping to use it on the pages with the black and red papers.
We had a baby shower for one of the girls on the design team. She had a baby boy, Jude, 2 months ago. That is about how long it's been since we all have gotten together.
I enjoy going to the design team nights. We get together the first Monday of each month. So I have missed going these past 2 months.
If anyone ever reads this please keep my husband in prayer. We just found out yesterday that he has shingles and it may take some time for it to heal.

Thank You Cards

I'm sending out these three thank you cards that I made, to some special people that I would like to say thanks to. Last week in Don's sermon he preached from Romans 1. In there Paul says that he thanks God for the people in the Roman church. So Don suggested that we too should be thanking God for the people in our church. So I have decided to start with these two people.
(And just a side note here, unfortunately I won't be able to post everyday because the computer I use is at work/church. We don't have internet at home so I will only be able to post on the days I get into the church building.)

We went to church today and had a great Sunday service. Hope you have a great Lord's day too!

Discovering Joy in Your Creativity

This is my first posting on my very first blog and I am very excited. I have put this off for about a year now. That is when I first discovered 'blogging' by visiting a blog written by the daughter of a friend and fellow church member. I have thought about doing it for so long but was scared and not sure if I would be able to do all of the techy stuff that needs to be done. But with the help of my son, who seems to know all there is when it comes to computers, I think I just may be able to do this.

So for my first blog I would like to talk about a study I have found that I think will help with my creativity. It is called "Discovering Joy in Your Creativity - You are made in the image of a creative God" by Margaret Feinberg. I have only done the first lesson but I already enjoy it very much. Let me share a scripture that Luci Swindoll refered to in her forward: "Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life." Galations 6:4 (translation: The Message)

I love that verse. This verse will help to free me up. To create for just me and not for other people. I think I have been trying to create for others for the past 10 years or so. I need to get back to the basics. So if you would like to do a little study on your own or have a group study with others then I would recommend this book. (You don't have to be crafty creative to do this study.)

Well I think that will be all for this first post. I need to look over the settings to continue to learn how this blog thing works.
